Speakers’ Bio

John Versnel, Esq.

John received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and graduated from the Seattle University School of Law.  He has practiced for over 35 years and focuses on the representation of professionals, including healthcare providers, clinics and pharmacies in malpractice actions, licensing/disciplinary matters, employment liability, and related disputes.

John has successfully tried and arbitrated dozens of dental malpractice lawsuits and has defended hundreds of dentists in various practice related matters.  He is a frequent speaker at risk management seminars and continuing education courses.

Carol J. McCutcheon, DDS

Dr. McCutcheon earned her degree in 1983 from the University of Washington School of Dentistry.  She has served as the President of Santa Clara County Dental Society and represented them as a trustee at the California Dental Association.  She also served as chair of the Leadership Development Committee at CDA. 

Dr. McCutcheon served for 6 years on the TDIC Board and was chair of the Claims and Risk Management Committee for 3 years.  She has practiced general dentistry for over 36 years in Campbell, CA. – both as the owner and as an associate of the practice she built.

Dr. Steve Niemczyk will be presenting Surgical cases representative of varied procedures and locations are available but hidden behind a hyperlinked pictogram. The attendees can select the hidden case at random, where the pertinent history and images are displayed in this “Microsurgical Jeopardy” format. The group can have a short discussion concerning treatment options and progression than the actual treatment is presented for evaluation and comments.

Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participants shall:

  1. Formulate varied treatment approaches based on site requirements and systemic health concerns.
  2. Construct a decision tree of treatment options, prioritizing order and effectiveness.

COURSE TITLE:  Waterlase Versatility in Everyday Endodontics

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Participants will gain a basic understanding of laser physics, how to implement the Waterlase system in endodontic treatment, surrounding hard and soft tissue, the versatility of the Waterlase laser and how incorporating this system has elevated my personal, professional and practice growth.  Participants will also have the opportunity to use the Waterlase laser on extracted teeth as well as perform hard and soft tissue procedures.  Participants will learn the versatility, ease of use and how safe the system is while treating their patients.

Bio/introduction:  Dr. Zibari was raised in West Los Angeles and received his Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA.  Afterwards, he moved to New York to attend Columbia University for his Doctorate in Dental Surgery.  While in dental school, Dr. Zibari became extremely interested in Endodontics.  He pursued his interest in the specialty, which led him to New York University College of Dentistry to earn his certificate in Endodontics.

Dr. Zibari is a member of The American Dental Association, The California Dental Association and is a former Chair of The Western Los Angeles Dental Society Committee of New Dentists’.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends.  His hobbies include traveling, basketball, golf, and snowboarding.
